Description

Guys, if any of you know any French, could you please tell me if I spelled the title right? And if I didn't, could someone correct me? I don't trust Google Translate. XD

Anyway, this is the sister picture to this one I just posted:

From left to right: My character, Grace; and :iconlavender-star:'s characters, Princess Tulla and Lady Shalita, both from different stories. I tried to make each of these ladies dresses true to their character and the time era/world that they're from. ^^

Here's why we chose the flowers we did for these characters. (And, Alish, if you have anything to add let me know! :D)

Grace is a daisybecause she may seem rather common for those who don't stop and look, but she's still just as delicate and beautiful as any flower, and her simplicity is part of what adds to her beauty. :aww: I wanted her dress to reflect the simple beauty that both she and the daisy have in common. I also wanted it to ring of working out in the garden (although, it's not a dress she'd work in, but it has that flavor). It's simple and classy, just like she is. :D

Tulla is a rose not only because she's the princess of the Rosefield Kingdom, but she has a very rose-like beauty. Very characteristic of the fairy tale princess she is, she's flamboyantly beautiful: with sea-blue eyes and flowing blonde hair. However, unlike most fairy tale princesses, she has her thorns, and woe to anyone who should try to reach to pick THIS flower from the bush! I wanted her dress to be as flowy and have as many layers as a rose does. It came out looking more queenly than I imagined, which is just fine! It's a dignified-looking dress, but certainly not overly flashy or ruffly, and that makes it all the more fitting for Tulla.

Shalita is a sunflower mostly because of her sunny disposition. She's bright and cheerful and always looks toward the sun. She has a way of bringing joy to people, even when she doesn't know it. Has anyone ever tried to pick a sunflower? Most sunflowers aren't easy to pick, and although their stems look thin in comparison to their flowers, the stems are extremely strong. Although Shalita is certainly delicate, she's by no means helpless, and she often proves to be more difficult to 'pick' than she seems. As Friedrich well knows. I wanted her dress to be as simple and elegant as she is. I also wanted to design the dress so that most of the focus is on her head and face rather than the rest of her dress, thus making it more sunflower-like.

Phew! That was a mouthful. Now for the artist's comments

I used this picture as an opportunity to practice different body types. Grace has a solid build and probably weighs more than she looks like, though she's far from overweight! Muscle and bone weigh more than fat, you know. Although, Chadwick is convinced that because she's not stick-thin, that means she's fat Anyway, she has a relatively wide bone structure, but not too wide. she has a short torso and moderately wide hips
Tulla seems to have a pretty proportional build. I wanted to give her sort of a "tall girl" type build. She's got a longer torso than Grace, but in combination with her long legs it looks proportional.
Shalita seems to have a bit more of a slender build. The way I drew her here, she's not terribly short, but her build makes her look pretty petite.

Let me know what you guys think!(Alish, I'm not sure if that's how you intened these characters to be built...I hope you don't mind that I used them as practice. ^^;)

That's all! :meow:

I love how much thought you've put into the different flowers for each character~ I love how they all turned out, especially Tulla!
